This week I was very excited to have been invited along to the opening of The Real Greek and their new venture in my lovely home town of Windsor.
An evening of fun, food and dancing was promised and they certainly didn't disappoint! We danced, we drank, we ate and we had a wonderful time.
Situated on River Street where La Taverna used to reside, this new restaurant, part of a larger group with a number of locations in London, looks to be a welcome addition to the town.
Although I was very sad to see La Taverna go, the friendly and welcoming feel of The Real Greek matched with their delicious food certainly offers a bright and inviting alternative.
We were lucky to get a sample of many canapés and nibbles taken straight from what is available on their every day menu. All fresh and delightful, I'm also reliably informed by my friend who accompanied me and happens to be Greek that the food was pretty spot on! My personal favourites included the Htipiti a Greek cheese dip with roasted peppers and a touch of chilli and the Lamb Keftedes, lovely little lamb meatballs!
Entertained with live music, traditional Greek songs old and new, we whirled around the dance floor and got ourselves involved in a bit of traditional dancing which was fantastic fun - and serious exercise, we were all exhausted!
The venue has a large space upstairs that can cater for larger groups and parties as well as live music and entertainment so it's certainly worth considering if you're looking for a suitable local space in which to hold an event.
The staff were incredibly welcoming and hospitable with a real passion for their food, a definite spark of excitement to be opening up in Windsor and high hopes for a great success.
If you're in Windsor and looking for something to eat I do hope you'll swing by and give this new venue your support.
I don't think you will be disappointed.
Bon Appetit or as they say in Greece Kalí óreksi!
