When I saw that this Friday 26th June was going to be Bring Your Dog To Work Day in the UK I just knew I was going to have to write a post about it on this blog. You may or may not have realised by now that I'm an avid dog lover. We own a beautiful, loving spaniel and she is very much part of our home and our lives, bringing us so much joy and a tonne of love and laughter on a daily basis. So this National event happening on Friday is right up my street and I hope that any fellow dog lovers reading this post might also be inspired to get involved in some way. Here's a little more about what the day is all about.
The event has become an annual, nationwide fixture organised by Hownd and dedicated to raising money and awareness for the welfare of dogs. Plus, not only are the benefits truly great for our fabulous four legged friends, but it has also been shown in many scientific studies that pets can have a hugely beneficial effect on our stress levels and happiness. Bringing them into the workplace can only be a good thing for our work wellbeing, with the presence of a pet improving peoples job satisfaction and team morale.
This week on Friday, businesses nationwide are being encouraged, if possible, to allow their employees to bring their dogs to work, make a donation to this years charity All Dogs Matter and share photos of the day with @DogsLoveHownd using the hashtag #BringYourDogToWorkDay.
Of course some workplaces may not be able to accommodate this or may not be suitable for dogs to venture into. Even so you can still get involved by sharing the love on social media and making a donation, no matter how big or how small, as every little bit will count and help to raise funds and awareness.
So if you have a super furry, four legged friend that you love as much as I do then why not get involved and help support this wonderful initiative. Share a pic of your pal helping you out in the office and in doing so raise awareness and hopefully lots of useful funds for dogs around the country who aren't as fortunate as our very well loved hounds at home.
As you can see my dog Evie loves to get involved with everything, including writing my blog posts. Without her to give me giggles and love on a daily basis, working at home on my own would be quite lonely. So when she jumps on my lap to say hello it really makes for the best part of my working day. Dogs in the office - well I'm all for it!
